Miranda Rake is a writer and editor in Portland. Currently a contributing writer at The Modern Proper, she has written for publications including The Wall Street Journal, Imbibe, Food52, and Portland Monthly, primarily on the topic of food and drink. You can take a look at her work here. In 2011, she earned a Masters degree in Food Studies from NYU. A quick perusal through her published writing demonstrates, among other things, a startling level of devotion to all things Tiki. In her dreams her office has a chaise lounge and a mini pink Smeg stocked exclusively with really really good Champagne. In reality most of her work happens at the kitchen table while she tries to ignore the shrieks of her toddler. Though she is passably capable of it, she is not fond of writing in the third person. Until recently, she also owned and operated a small jam company, as is typical for a Portland-based millennial like herself.
